Big, colorful gems are very much in style, according to Neil Seidman, owner of Gold-N-Time Jewelers, Manalapan. |

Trends come and go in women's fashion. Jewelry is no exception. This year offers a few dramatic changes in the way women accessorize with earrings, necklaces and all kinds of trinkets.
"After 10 years of white metal, the trend is now alternative metals and materials," says Neil Seidman, owner of Gold-N-Time Jewelers, 700 Tennent Road, Manalapan. "Designers are currently creating larger pieces in bold patterns for necklaces and bracelets - chunky jewelry in darker tones, as well as the great look of black and white. Big, colored gems are in, and yellow gold is finally swinging back into fashion - a welcome change from white metals."
In addition to the latest in jewelry fashion, Gold-N-Time can also create designs that fit your personal taste in its full design shop. Gold-N-Time is one of the few area jewelers with the Gem Matrix Design software program that produces a 3-D real-time design display of depth and color - warmer, softer color that has come into favor this season.

| Rich earth tones, so perfect for fall accessorizing, will be considered part of the wardrobe, as will the alternate jewelry materials used such as rubber, wood and stainless steel. Pastel jewelry is fading from the fashion scene, but citrine, amber, onyx and jade, alone or mixed together, have gained in popularity this year.
"The trend is to almost over accessorize," says Marc Greenfield, owner of Susan Greene at the Marketplace Mall on Route 34 in Matawan, a store that specializes in women's accessories. "Long and multiple chains doubled over, and open links in geometric patterns such as triangles and squares, are the desired look now. Metallics, especially copper and bronze, are hot this year."
For younger women, chandelier earrings are still denim-friendly, but Bracelets with charms look chic on all women, and are said to inspire good karma, according to Marc Greenfield, owner of Susan Green in Matawan. O lder women should save them for dressier occasions and take them out of their everyday wardrobe. Inspirational jewelry, six bracelets together with good luck charms, look chic on all women and are said to encourage "good karma." The sparkling, antique-appeal of marcasite jewelry is a classic and never goes out of style. Judith Jack, a leader in marcasite design, brings romance and old-world charm that somehow looks great with today's fashions. Nadri, designer of dressy jewelry with a reproduction look, is also an extremely popular fashion accessory at Susan Greene.

| John Baghsarian Jr., general manager of Earth Treasures Jewelers, Office Max Plaza in Eatontown, reminds us that there are some things that never, ever go out of style: "Diamonds are here to stay and for good reason. They glitter, sparkle and are spectacular. Their beauty lasts and they are always fashionable. Just look for quality when purchasing a diamond and remember the four Cs - carat (weight), cut, clarity and color. A large, colorless diamond will be more expensive, as will a flawless diamond or one with a minute flaw. Cut also affects cost. A well-cut diamond is fashioned to exact mathematical proportions."
In addition to the latest in jewelry design, estate jewelry and fine watches, Earth Treasures is the only jeweler in the nation to carry all three Canadian Arctic Diamond brands - Tundra Diamond, Polar Bear Diamond and exquisite Canadia Diamonds. Experts project Canada to be the third-largest producer of diamonds in the world, and they are the only diamonds to come with a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing their country of origin. They are mined, cut and polished only in North America.
